Leonard Finegold is a member of our Construction Group.
He has been practicing exclusively in construction law for more than 35 years.
Owners, mortgagees, developers, contractors, subcontractors, suppliers, architects and engineers regularly seek him out for advice. His areas of expertise include construction liens, contract development and negotiation, breach of trust claims, delay claims, occupational health & safety issues, mediation, arbitration and litigation.
Broad experience in the private sector has also given Len critical skills in navigating complex legalities in all areas of construction related matters.
Leonard has held many high-level positions in the past. In particular, he was the Director of Legal & Labour Relations for Ellis-Don Construction Ltd., Executive Legal Counsel to a large international mining company undergoing the construction and redevelopment of one of its mines in Northern Ontario, and General Counsel to a large mechanical and electrical contractor. Â This experience enables him to bring unique and particularly valuable insights to construction-related matters and act as a sounding board to senior construction executives.
Len is a Founding Fellow of the Canadian College of Construction Lawyers and a former co-chairman of the General Contractors Section of the Toronto Construction Association. He was a co-editor for A Handbook for Executives Construction Act of Ontario, first edition published in the Fall of 2018 and the second edition published in the Fall of 2019 by the Ontario General Contractor’s Association respecting the 2018-2019 amendments to the Construction Act.
