Opportunities

We are currently seeking a litigation legal assistant with 4+ years of experience.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Drafting, serving, and filing court documents in accordance with the Ontario Rules of Civil Procedure and practice directions
  • Organizing and diarizing files for deadlines and limitation periods
  • Performing PPSA, corporate, and Teraview searches and required
  • Communication with clients
  • Opening and closing files
  • Docketing time
  • Dictations
  • Preparation of client accounts
  • Filing electronically, with some physical filing

Skills and Qualifications: 

  • 4+ years of experience as a Litigation Legal Assistant
  • Knowledge of Rules of Civil Procedure
  • Knowledge of Teraview – Title searches, uploading maps of properties, documentation for registration (construction liens, discharges, court orders, etc.)
  • Knowledge of Construction Lien procedures an asset
  • Knowledge of Automated Civil Litigation software (ACL) and Aderant an asset
  • Exceptional oral communication skills are required
  • Strong understanding of MS Office (Word, Excel, etc.) is essential
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Effective time management skills with flexibility to prioritize and multitask in a fast-paced environment
  • Solution-driven with strong sense of task ownership
  • A self-starter, with a willingness to learn new things and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
