GSNH LLP’s John McKeown successfully represented Goodwill Industries International, Inc. in a trademark opposition and prevented a third party from registering trademarks for various financial services which contained the word GOODWILL.
The Trademark Opposition Board found that the applied-for marks would likely cause confusion with the well-known GOODWILL and GOODWILL DESIGN trademarks. Although there were differences between the respective goods and services a consumer would likely think that the applicant’s goods and services shared a common source or were associated with Goodwill International.
