(From Left to Right: Darren Steedman, Chair of BILD, Rodney Ikeda, Partner at GSNH, David Wilkes, President and CEO of BILD)
GSNH’s Rodney Ikeda was inducted into the Hall of Fame for the Building Industry and Land Development Association (BILD) on January 31, 2018. The BILD Hall of Fame recognizes the unique historical role which certain individuals have played in making outstanding and lasting contributions to the industry and/or the Association at the local level. He joins the forty-seven previous recipients, and was among the five inductees for 2017.
BILD’s roots go back to 1921 when the Toronto Home Builders’ Association was established. Five Toronto builders met in a downtown office to discuss development fees and charges, and formed an association that has been representing the industry and influencing public policy development for nearly a century. Over the years, the name has changed several times as the organization has grown and evolved. On September 14, 2006 members of the Greater Toronto Home Builders Association and the Urban Development Institute/Ontario voted to merge the two organizations. The merger created a united voice to better serve the industry as a whole. In 2007, the newly merged organization was renamed as BILD, the Building Industry and Land Development Association.
BILD has always represented the industry in Toronto and the surrounding areas. Today BILD is active in the Regions of Halton, Peel, York, Durham, Simcoe County, as well as the City of Toronto.
Congratulations Rodney and all recipients!
